Jay Simper

AUTHOR OF FIRST BASS, SECOND BASS

CO-AUTHOR OF ALTO SAX ESSENTIALS

Music has always been a part of Jay's life.  He grew up in Arizona and began playing the piano at age 5.  At age 8 he added saxophone to his repertoire.  In junior high, he wanted to learn to play guitar but his band director talked him into playing bass guitar.  He fell in love with the instrument and never looked back.

In 1991, he moved to California to continue his music education. He graduated with honors from Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California in 1992 and has been a member of the bass staff there since 1996. He has enjoyed performing and recording with various artists in many styles as a freelance bass player.  He is currently writing and recording with Collective in Groove.
